The Newton Cap viaduct, taking the road from the North into Bishop Auckland across
the River Wear. This viaduct replaced the use of the old bridge, - seen behind
it, which used to be a traffic nightmare. The old bridge was wide enough for 1
1/2 cars only, and traffic from the North and the South both approached down a
