| This is the original "Locomotion" locomotive built by Robert Stephenson and Compnay, and was driven by George Stephenson at the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway on 27 September 1825. Remarkably, this original locomotive used to be on open public display on a platform at Darlington Station until relatively recently. | ||
