A composite railway carriage dating back to 1847. First Class passengers had the centre compartment, and 2nd Class the two other compartments. Baggage and the guard were kept on top of the carriage. This particular carriage used to be on public display on a platform at Stockton railway station, In 1969 I was able to peer inside it while waiting for a train!
