Explorer Map No 304 - Darlington & Richmond A walk taking in parts of the Teesdale Way. There are
few gradients of any note, and the route is easy to follow. A map of the route followed has been plotted on the Ordnance Survey mapping website, By selecting the ink below you will be taken to this map, - complete with distances and heights marked on the route. The route shown is on a standard map. To view the route
on an Ordnance Survey map, select the icon in the lower right of the
screen. If the route is displayed on a 1:50 OS map, zoom in to see
the details on a 1:25 OS map. Walk Southwards beside the A135 towards Yarm. For the first couple of hundred yards there is a footpath in the grounds of Preston Park, in woodland, that runs beside the A135. Continue past Eaglescliffe Golf Club, where the Teesdale Way is indicated by a signpost. Here you enter a housing estate. Follow the indicated footpath along pavements in the housing estate, until you come to the footpath sign that directs you to the river. Continue along the Teesdale Way beside the River Tees, until you come to where there is another footpath on your right. A prominent finger post directs you to this footpath. Follow the footpath to the farm on the outskirts of Egglescliffe Village. in the village, head for the Green, and then St. John's Church. Past the Church, a footpath takes you to the main road and Southwards to Yarm. Cross the bridge into Yarm. A few hundred yards down the main street, turn left and head for the riverside. After a brief walk beside the river, return to the main street in Yarm. Cross the bridge over the River Tees, heading Northwards. Immediately on your right a sign directs you to the Teesdale Way footpath at the Bluebell pub. Return along the riverside footpath to where the Teesdale Way once again enters the housing estate.
