Explorer Map 308, - Durham & Sunderland.
A "there and back" walk using well-defined
tracks and footpaths, such that a map is not needed.
Start from the car park in Seaham that overlooks the Harbour
(NZ43020 49665).
Head South along the road (a wide pavement is used) .that runs past the
Harbour until you comes to the track (that leaves the main road) and leads
to Noses Point.
At Noses Point there is a low stone shelter that overlooks the coastline,
and nearby are various interpretative boards.
At this point, there is a track that leads down to Blast Beach.
However, use of this track is recommended only for those who are sure-footed.
Otherwise, follow the footpath Southwards that runs close to the cliff
tops. Continue until you come to Chourdon Point that overlooks Blast Beach.
From here, return along the cliff top path to Noses Point.
Alternatively, there is a broad and well maintained track, that runs beside
the main railway line, that will return you to Noses Point.
Return to Seaham via the road along which you came out.
In Seaham, head down to the Marina where there are shops and cafes.
