Outdoor Leisure Map OL26, - North York Moors (Western Area)
A straightforward walk that takes in the two villages of Nether Silton
and Over Silton.
The walk starts from the car parking area of Square Corner, outside
Osmotherley.
From Square Corner the route follows the National Cycleway 65 to Nether
Silton.
Field footpaths then take you from Nether Silton to the Church of St.
Mary at Over Silton, returning via Nether Silton to Square Corner.
There are several stiles on the field footpaths, some of which are fairly
tricky.
On the National Cycleway part of the route, there is a long downhill
stretch, which becomes a long uphill stretch on the return.
Start from Square Corner(SE479 959). Take the track South Westwards towards
the Black Hambleton hill.
Just past a field gate, take the signposted track for the National Cycleway
on your right.
At the end of Moor Lane, turn left and follow the road for a short distance.
At the road junction turn right for the village of Nether Silton.
In Nether Silton take the footpath Northwards, found near the Post box.
Continue on the field footpath to St. Mary;s Church, Over Silton .
From the church take the field footpath Westwards to Over Silton.
In Over Silton, follow the road South for a short distance, then take
