The Newton Cap viaduct used to be a railway bridge, but is now shared by road traffic and pedestrians. Very sadly, the pedestrian footway has also attracted people who want to end their life. In the past couple of years at least three people have jumped to their deaths. Some of the tributes can be seen in the photo.
