The starting point for today's walk was from the site of what had once been the railway station at Brancepeth. There is now a parking area as part of the Brandon - Bishop Auckland Railway Walkway. Brancepeth Staion closed in 1964. There are some fascinating photos and history of the station on the Disused Staions website.
