The Grey Panthers

Youdon't really need a map for this walk.
Start from the car park at the Broompark Picnic Area. The Picnic Area is about 1/2 mile along the B6302 road (Stone Bridge to Ushaw Moor), just West of Durham City.
From the Picnic Area, take the footpath South for a short distance. Then take the signposted track that is shown as the Brandon - Bishop Auckland Railway Walkway.
Follow the Walkway Westwards for 3 miles.
The Walkway emerges at a road by the site where Brancepeth Station was once located.
Here turn left and head Sourthwards (crossing the A690, - CARE needed) to head for Brancepeth Castle and St. Brandon's Church.
Return by re-tracing your steps.
