Explorer Map OL26, - North York Moors (Western Area)

An easy to follow circular walk between the two churches of Hutton Rudby and Crathorne.
The outward leg principally follows a farm track, which can be quite wet and muddy in wet weather.
The return leg of the walk initially uses the road (where great care is needed) before following a well maintained footpath through woodland and over agricultural land.
In wet conditions (e.g. muddy underfoot) the path through the woodland can be slippery and somewhat tricky.
There are several stiles to cross, but these are all well maintained.

A map of the route followed has been plotted on the Ordnace Survey mapping website, By selecting the ink below you will be taken to this map, - complete with distances and heights marked on the route.

Start from a small parking area opposite Hutton Rudby's parish church (NZ47134 06664). If this parking area is in use due to a church service, you may find it convenient to park in the village itself.
Take the lane that heads West from here, beside the River Leven, until you come to a sewage works. At the gates of the sewage works, the footpath can be found on the left and continues beside the River Leven.
Follow the footpath up a hill through Blue Bank Wood to Blue Bank Lane.
When you reach the lane, turn left and follow a rough track Westwards to Corn Mill Farm. Continue on the track to cross the River Leven and onwards to Crathorne itself where the church is well worth visiting.
From the church return along the road that leads to Hutton Rudby.
CARE is needed along this section of road.
About 1/4 mile along the road, on your left, is a signed footpath that is reached through a farm gate.
Follow this footpath through jamie Wood and then along the boundaries of agricultural fields until you come to a track that takes you to Garbutt Lane in Hutton Rudby.
Enter Hutton Rudby via Garbutt Lane, then make you way through a housing estate to North End/
Here a footpath returns you to All Saints' Church via the bridge over the River Leven.
