The Grey Panthers

We were glad to have some shelter from the wind at this picnic spot, - the Roman Way Picnic Site. This site is built upon the area where the Barnard Castle Gas Works was located. The last gas holder was demolished in the 1990s. At the rear is a 200 year old retaining wall, part of the original Gas Works.
