This is a very straightforward walk between the market town of Helmsley and the quaint village of Harome.
Harome has several quaint house, a very broad main street, a 14th century thatched building which is now a Michelin starred restaurant, and a very popular hotel.
The walk uses a field footpath and the minor road between these two places.

Start from the main car park in Helmsley (SE61058 83787). - NOTE : fee to be paid.
Head Southwards through Helmsley towards the bridge over the River Rye. Before the bridge head down Ryegate then turn right down Sawmill Lane.
Past the industrial estate take the footpath that leads to the Ebor Way.
However, before reaching the Ebor Way take the lane on your left which leads to a field footpath that heads towards Harome.
When you come to the bridge over the disused railway, turn left and follow the footpath to the Helmsley-Harome road.
Follow the road into Harome. Turn right to the church and the main street through Harome.
At the end of this street turn left into Back Lane to return to where you first entered Harome.
Leave Harome by the field footpath that is by the pond opposite the Pheasant Hotel.
This returns you to the Helmsley-Harome road.
Return to Helmsley the way you came.
