Start from St. Hilda's Church, Danby (NZ695 062). There is a parking area for cars outside the church.
If you do drive to the church, it is recommended that you approach via Longlands Lane, rather than Wandels Lane. The latter is a single track road with no passing places.

At the bottom of the hill, take the Esk Valley Walk footpath on the right, and follow this all the way to High Castleton.
From Castleton follow the Esk Valley Walk footpath down into Esk Dale and then up to the path through Danby Park wood.
Continue into Danby itself and onwards to the Moors Centre.
Retrace your steps from the Moors Centre to Easton Lane.
Here take the footpath to Ainthorpe.
In Ainthorpe. turn left and follow the road to Bramble Carr Farm, and continue onwards to Rowantree Farm.
From here continue on the footpath to Tofts lane and St. Hilda's Church.
