Outdoor Leisure Map OL26, - North Yorkshire Moors (West)

This walk uses well-used and popular tracks and footpaths, so that navigation should be no problem.
There are some ascents and descents, though all are on clear tracks.
Crossing field boundaries is through gates, with no stiles.
On a clear day there are some extraordinary views, both from Captain Cook's Monument and from Newton Moor, overlooking Roseberry Topping.

Park at Kildale Railway Station (NZ60479 09543).
Walk back along the lane to Kildale village, and at the village turn sharp left to take the farm road to Bankside Farm. This is part of the Cleveland Way footpath.
Continue past the farm, and at the top of the bank a finger post directs you along a track in a Westerly direction. Continue in this Westerly direction to reach Captain Cook's Monument.
From Captain Cook's Monument take the Cleveland Way footpath due North to the car park at Gribdale Gate.
From Gribdale Gate, continue on the broad footpath due North to the field wall and gate on Newton Moor, where there is a view West down to Roseberry Topping.
Now take the broad track East and continue in an Easterly direction until you meet another broad track that heads North-South.
Here turn right and follow the track over the moor until you come to a field gate, beyond which is the road of Percy Cross Rigg.
Pass through the gate and take the track ahead of you and on your right.
This track takes you to Lonsdale Farm and continues to KIldale.
