Outdoor Leisure Map OL26, - North York Moors (Western Area)
This walk is straightforward, but can be simplified.
After setting out from the parking area at Square Corner, a Forestry
tackthrough Silton Forest is followed. A small detour is then made over
famland footpaths, though this can be omitted if needed.
The rest of the route is very starightforward, with the half-way point
being the Church of St. Mary Magdalene at Over Silton.
The rturn to Square Corner is basically using the Forestry track taken
on the outward leg of the walk.

(Overlay made with Version 5 of Memory Map)
Some new mapping software is now available which you may
want to try, - QUO mapping. You can download the software for free from
the link below, complete with demonstration maps. Having installed QUO,
you can import and export Memory Map overlays. Thus YOU DON'T NEED Memory
Map to use any of the overlays provided on the Grey Panthers web site,
- just use QUO!!
Start from the parking area at Square Corner (SE479 059).
Follow the track Southwards, and afer about 200 yards take the track on
your right that takes you through Silton Forest.
After following the track for 1.5. miles, there is a footpath on your
left which takes you to Honeykiln Farm.
FRom Honeykiln Farm, the footpath connects to Thwaites Lane.
However, this small detour may be missed out if needed.
FRom Thwaites Lane, follow the road through Nether Silton until you come
to the bridleway on your right. This leads to Greystone Farm.
Head straight ahead in the farmyard to continue on the bridleway via a
fram gate.
Head North to meet the minor road just outside Over Silton.
Continue on the minor road to meet a footpath on your right to the Church
of St. Mary Magdalene.
