A walk that starts outside St. Gregory's Minster in Kirkdale. This ancient church is well worth a visit in its own right.
Using field footpaths, the walk continues to Kirkbymoorside, and continues using country lanes to Gillamoor.
From Gillamoor, the return is via Fadmoor and country lanes.
These country lanes may be quiet but they DO carry vehicular traffic, and care is needed.

Start from the car park by St. Gregory's MInster in Kirkdale. Rather than the car park used by those attending church services, if the overflow car park is open use this. (SE67629 85658).
Head for the road that crosses the Hodge Beck. Just past where the road crosses the beck, there is footpath that takes you to the "Hyena's Cave". You may want to visit this.
Continue on the road until you come to the cross roads. Ahead is a field footpath. Follow the footpath to the woodland of Robin Hood's Howl.
Just inside the gate to this woodland is the footpath that takes you over fields to Kirkbymoorside.
In Kirkbymoorside, take the streets / roads to the Market Place. Unless you are familiar with the town, you need to study your map and follow it carefully.
At the top end of the High Street in Kirkbymoorside, head up Castlegate, and then turn right up Park Lane.
Follow Park Lane past Low Park Farm and continue until you come to Back of Parks Road (a country lane).
Here turn left and follow the lane all the way until you come to Woodhead Field Lane.
Here turn right and head Northwards into Gillamoor.
In Gillamoor, turn right and make for St. Aidan's Church.
To return, now head West along the road to Fadmoor (there is a pavement at the side of this road).
In Fadmoor, turn left and then shortly afterwards take to the road on your right.
This is Starfiits Lane, and returns you to Kirkdale,
