This sight really saddened me. Frank Meadow Sutcliffe was a late 19th Century photographer who specialised in photographs of Whitby, its shipping and people. His photos are highly evocative and modern copies could be puchased in the Sutcliffe Gallery. The Gallery is about to close, with copies of Sutcliffe's photos now only avialable on line.
