This walk starts in the delightful village of Swainby
then follows a section of the Cleveland Way footpath though woodland to
Huthwaite Green. From here, the Cleveland Way is followed for a short
distance before taking a footpath through woodland towards Faceby.
In Faceby, the footpath then skirts round Whorl Hill before joining the
footpath to Whorlton.
From Worlton it is a short walk to Swainby.
In Whorlton time should be made to visit the old Church, and the ruins
of the castle.

There are several parking spaces by the public toilets in
Swainby (NZ47653 02159).
Head Southwards down the main street in Swainby. Continue ahead past the
turning to Scugdale.
At a bend in the road there is a signposted track which leads you to join
the Cleveland Way footpath in Clain Wood.
Turn left on the Cleveland Way footpath and follow the path to Hollin
Hill.
Continue on the Ceveland Way towards Round Hill. However, where the Cleveland
Way then turns sharp right (by a small gate) to continue up Round Hill,
instead continue straight ahead on a field footpath beside the boundary
fence.
This section of footpath is over very uneven ground.
Continue to where a small gate entery the Faceby Plantation.
Continue on the footpath through the plantation to Bank Lane, and then
head Northwards towards Faceby.
Just past High Farm, a footpath (reached by a stile) takes you into the
woodland of Whorl Hill.
Follow the footpath round Whorl Hill to emerge at Whorl Hill Farm.
Here take the footpath to Whorlton where you can visit the old Church
and the Castle.
From Whorlton, continue back to Swainby.
