After lunch we walked from Swainby to the Church of the Holy Rood in Whorlton. The ruins are those of a 12th Century Church, which was in daily use until the late 19th Century. However, when a new church was built in Swainby, the building gradually deteriorated. Services were held here in the mid-20th Century, and the churchyard remains in use. |
