Starting out from Sandsend the tide was well in, meaning that it would be a better option to walk to Whitby along the cliff tops (the Cleveland Way footpath) and return along the beach. Unfortunately the weather wasn't all that brilliant, - very misty conditions and quite chilly (about 13 C).
