The Grey Panthers

A bit of a mystery here. The footpath just South of Cleveland Lodge, on the outskirts of Great Ayton, runs through what LOOKS like a leat (water channel for a mill). But there is no water, or mill, anywhere near it. And the ground inside ths channel appears to have been paved or lined with stone.
