Explorer Map OL26, - North York Moors (Western Area)
A walk that is right on Cleveland's doorstep that takes in three
"peaks", - all at about 320 m. The walk uses Forestry tracks,
farm roads, and moorland footpaths.
As may be expected there is a fair amount of walking both up gradients,
and down gradients. The views, however, on a clear day make everything
highly worthwhile.
Navigation is very straightforward.

Park at the place known as Gribdale Gate (NZ59206 11018).
There is usually ample parking space here, but at busy times it can become
very full.
Head up the Forestry track towards Captain Cook's Monument.
From the Monument head Eastwards along the footpath and then Forestry
track until you come to the farm road.
Take the farm road Northwards past Lonsdale Farm. When the road becomes
a track, follow the track Northwards (the track is VERY deeply rutted
by farm vehicles, but it should be possible to walk beside the track).
Where the track emerges at a road, head left and, once through the gate,
take the broad track that heads over the moors in a North Westerly direction.
On Hutton Moor, take the signposted footpath that heads Eastwards (the
Cleveland Way) and follow the footpath to Highcliff Nab.
From the Nab, initially take the Forestry track Northwards, but turn right
at the T-junction to find the Tees Link footpath.
Follow the Tees Link footpath downhill initially, then left until it meets
the road into Hutton village.
Cross over this road and take the track into Hutton Lowcross Woods.
Continue on the Forestry track in a South Westerly direction to emerge
on Roseberry Common.
Here find the very clear footpath to the summit of Roseberry Topping.
On descending from Roseberry Topping, take the Cleveland Way footpath
initially Eastwards, then Southwards, to return to your staring point.
