A delightful circular walk through Lower Wensleydale scenery, taking in a mix of meadows and woodland and ending with a walk along the Leyburn Shawl. This latter feature is a limestone ridge, offering some superb views of Wensleydale, - including across the valley to Penill and up the Dale to as far as Addlebrough.
In Redmire, a visit can be paid to the 12th Century church of St. Mary.
The walk is easy to navigate and there ared no particularly difficult gradients.

Start from the car park near Leyburn's Police station (SE11110 90623).
Head Southwards out of Leyburn on the road to Hawes (the A684) for a short distance. There is a pavement on the left as you head downhill. Take the footpath that heads South Westwards across meadowland to cross the railway line. This footpath is just past the lane that heads due South.
After crossing the railway line, continue along the field footpath to Wensley. It helps to use the 1 : 25000 OS map to check field boundaries.
In Wensley, head past the Church and then turn right and cross the A684 to follow the broad track that heads due West to Bolton Hall.
Continue on this track, past Bolton Hall, through West Wood, until you emerge at the edge of West Wood at a metal gate. This leads onto a field footpath that heads North Westwards across fields to Redmire.
In Redmire, walk Northwards along the road to the Green, where the Millenium bench is located under a large sycamore tree.
Retrace your steps until you come to the lane at the Southern end of Redmire, where a sign points you to St. Mary's Church. Follow the lane to the church, then continue to a field footpath that is indicated on your left at SE 05470 90645.
Head North Eastwards across fields to the railway line, and after crossing the railway line take the footpath to the Redmire - Leyburn road. Walk Eastwards along the road for a short distance, then take the field footpath North to Preston-under-Scar.
Walk Eastwards through Preston-under-Scar. Past the village, take the field footpath to Gillfield Woods and the remains of the lead smelting flue.
Now head Eastwards over the field footpath to the Leyburn Shawl.
Walk Eastwards along the Shawl to return to Leyburn.
