10.1 miles.

Explorer Map 307, - Consett & Derwent Reservoir

A very straightforward walk, - easy to navigate and a firm surface all the way.
There are no gradients, bar one or two very gentle ones.
The walk is therefore ideal for times when farmland in other areas is wet and muddy.
The only proviso is that Consett is relatively high up, and at times bad weather may be affected more than down at sea level.

(Overlay made with Version 5 of Memory Map)

Some new mapping software is now availabe which you may want to try, - QUO mapping. You can download the software for free from the link below, complete with demonstration maps. Having installed QUO, you can import and export Memory Map overlays. Thus YOU DON'T NEED Memory Map to use any of the overlays provided on the Grey Panthers website, - just use QUO!!

There was a parking area in Dixon Street, near the start of the walk, which proved to be very convenient (NZ10225 51736).
From Dixon Street, walk along the A691 until you come to the fingerpost showing the start of the A14 cycle track to Lanchester.
Basically, all you have to do now is follow the waymarks and finger posts that direct you along this track.
When the track reaches Lanchester Station (disused), simply continue all the way to Langley Park.
