| In June 2005 a massive flash flood hit Ryedale and caused immense damage to Hawnby and Hawnby Church. One sign of the power of this flash flood can be seen in the valley of Stoney Gill Hole. Masses of rocks were washed down what had once been a gentle grassy valley, - making the going along the footpath extremely difficult (further up the valley). | ||
