This may appear to be nothing much, but it does have some historic interest. On the right is the track bed of the old railway, - now the Deerness Valley Walkway. On the left is where there used to be a railway siding (as we are informed by the small notice on the post). Apparently, this siding is where the Royal Train would park itself when the Queen needed to stay overnight whilst progressing round the country on the train (in the 1950s / 1960s). |
