Explorer Map No OL27 - North York Moors Eastern Area
An absolutely delightful walk, suitable for all seasons.
In late March / early April there are Daffodils everywhere, -
cultivated ones in the villages (Sinnington, Cropton, and Appleton-le-Moors,
and wild ones in the woods. The wild Daffodils here are a match
for those seen in Farndale.
The walk is quite straightforward to navigate, and there are no
especially difficult gradients.
Choose a fine day and this walk is a gem.

Park in Sinnington, - park in the street that leads
out of the village to the main Helmsley - Pickering road (SE74422
85681).
Head Northwards up the main street in Sinnington, and take the lane
that continues Northwards past a row of cottages.
Continue, - following the River Seven. Where the river bends sharply
to the left continue ahead on a bearing of about 310 degrees. This
path skirts round woodland and eventually meets with the River Seven
again.
Continue heading Northwards on the outskirts of woodland, until the
path turns sharp right. Follow this path which soon becomes a track
(Low Lane) that takes you to Cropton.
Where the path meets the road, turn right and head uphill into Cropton
village.
Retrace your steps to the meeting of Low Lane and the road, then continue
downhill to Cropton Bridge.
Turn left here and take the road to the Seven Bridhe and Lower Askew
Farm.
Take the footpath South from Lower Askew Farm to Appleton Mill Farm.
Turn sharp right to the farm lane at this point, and head up the hill
to where the footpath To Appleton-le-Moors is waymarked.
Follow this path round the outskirts of Howlgate Head Wood to Appleton-le-Moors.
From Appleton-le-Moors take the footpath South back to Sinnington.
