Explorer Maps No OL30 - Yorkshire Dales, Northern and Central
Areas
A superb walk, made especially enjoyable if the weather is sunny
and the visibility is high.
There are wonderful views to be had, and the walking beside the
River Cover is a particular pleasure.
Navigation is very straightforward, and there are no gradients
to get too worried about.
For a Memory Map overlay of the walk described, please select the

Some new mapping software is now availabe which you
may want to try, - QUO mapping. You can download the software for
free from the link below, complete with demonstration maps. Having
installed QUO, you can import and export Memory Map overlays. Thus
YOU DON'T NEED Memory Map to use any of the overlays provided on the
Grey Panthers website, - just use QUO!!

down Coverham Lane).
Above Fern Gill House a track leads down, past the house and past
The Forbidden Corner, to Coverham Lane.
Turn right here,, and after a few yards head down the farm track (to
Bird Ridding Farm). You will see a footpath that takes you down to
the River Cover, which you cross by the footbridge.
Head up the lane to Hanghow Lane. Turn right in the lane (a narrow
minor road) and continue to Caldbergh.
Take the road into Caldbergh.
Follow the signpost for the footpath to Hanghow Lane, and then the
footpath itself.
In Hanghow Lane, turn right and continue to Braithwaite Hall.
Here turn left and take the footpath to Hullo Bridge.
Don't cross the bridge, but turn right and take the field footpath
to East Witton.
From East Witton take the field footpath to Cover Bridge.
Cross the bridge, then take the footpath back to Middleham that takes
you up Straight Lane.
