| The famous ford at Stanhope. It's OK for pedestrians to use the stepping stones (though a surprisingly disorientating business when you cross the River Wear using them). But the ford is now closed to motor vehicles, - the emergency services had got totally fed up rescuing stranded drivers. | ||
