Explorer Map OL27, - North York Moors Eastern Area
This walk sets out from Goathland, the "Aidensfield"
of TV's "Heartbeat" programme but is soon away from the tourism
of the village to the peace of the riverside and the moorland.
There are no particular navigational difficulties, though it is essential
to follow the path using the 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey map in parts.
Sections of the walk cross the moors, and the usual precautions should
be taken as regards the weather.
The footpath beside the West Beck is very rugged in parts, and can be
steep and slippery.
