Outdoor Leisure Map No OL27 - North York Moors (East)
The walk was selected as it principally
uses Forestry Commission tracks and footpaths, which are normally fairly
firm underfoot. However, recent heavy weather had made sure that sections
of the walk remained extremely wet and slippery.
For "light relief" we were able to watch the occasional steam
train of the North York Moors Railway puffing up Newtondale.

to Needle Eye (SE841954).
Descend to the valley floor, then head back along Forestry tracks and
paths (all clearly marked) to Levisham Station. Newtondale Halt railway
