7 miles.
Explorer Map No OL26- North York Moors Western Area

A straightforward amble, on the flat, using part of the Ebor Way, minor roads, and farm footpaths.
The walk goes to Harome, an unusual Yorkshire village, along part of the Ebor Way and returns along a footpath beside a disused railway line.
To complete the day out, a walk round Helmsley itself can be made.

Start from Helmsley Centre. Several choices for parking, bu street parking was used at SE6103183994.
Head out of the town by the road South to Thirsk, but just before the bridge over the River Rye turn left to follow the waymarked Ebor Way.
Follow the Ebor Way along the River Rye until a railway bridge under the disused rail track is reached. Take the path that goes under the bridge and leads you to the Helmsley-Harome road. Follow the road into Harome (SE6468082167).
Explore Harome along the road heading East to Wombleton.
Leave Harome by the footpath adjacent to the duck pond at SE645820.
This footpath returns you to the minor road, and you retrace your way to the point where the bridge under the disused railway track is reached (SE6310482666).
Here take the waymarked footpath to the East of the disused railway track back into Helmsley.
