Circular walk, starting from near Downholme Bridge. However, the start
point could be modified to be Markse itself.
The walk takes in a mix of fields (mostly sheep farming), country roads,
and country lanes.
Apart from the gentle climb up the hill out of Marske, the rest of walk
is generally flat.
This walk is a pleasant countryside walk, with riverside views.

Start Point : near Downholme Bridge, Grid Reference SE11299955
Cross the bridge and take the footpath immediately to the right, across
fields, to Marske.
From Marske, take the road out South West, climbing the hill to Hardstiles
Top.
From here , take the footpath across fields to Ellers and Marrick.
At Marrick, follow the Coast-to-Coast route to Marrick Abbey, SE685978
Return to Downholme Bridge via Nagshaw Bank, Marrick Park, and Lower Oxque. |
