From Ingleby Greenhow, the route follows the Ingleby Incline, - the track bed
of what was once a railway system for bringing iron ore down to Teesside. This
incline is about 1.5 miles long and rises 220 metres (about 650 feet), and by
the time you get to the top you feel as though you have achieved something! When
the railway was in use, the wagons were raised and lowered on the incline by a
rope haulage system.
