The walk starts from the Falling Foss car park, near Littlebeck. Not far from
the car park is "The Hermitage". This building was reputedly hewn from
solid stone by a George Chub (inscription above doorway "G C 1790").
There is a circular stone bench inside it, and two seats on top. It was either
a "real" hermitage, or an eighteenth century folly.
