Outdoor Leisure Map No 31 - North Pennines Teesdale and Weardale
A circular walk between Barnard
Castle and Cotherstone, using the Teesdale Way as marked out on both
banks (East and West) of the River Tees. The paths are all well defined,
and there are no navigational difficulties. There are a couple of steep
descents, but there is otherwise no particular difficulty with this
walk.

(Overlay made with Version 4 of Memory Map)
The start of the walk is from Barnard Castle itself.
The car park we used is unofficial, and is beside a playing field near
the river at NZ0507716110..
Leave Barnard Castle by the road to Bowes / Middleton-on-Tees, and cross
the river by the road bridge. Follow the road to Middleton-on-Tees until
the Teesdale Way is signposted along a farm road to Towler Hill. Follow
the well marked Teesdale Way to Cotherstone. (NZ0133120078)
Cross the River Tees at this point, and follow the marked Teesdale Way
back to Barnard Castle.
