The trickiest part of today's walk is where the Cleveland Way passes through Blackdale Howl Wood, where there is a steep drop down followed by a steep climb out using these steps. Many years ago Poilsh service men were stationed in a camp located in these woods, - vestigial remains of which can still be seen.
