The walk started from the Village Hall car park in Chop Gate. But the main road through Chop Gate had been closed (for repairs) just North of the village itself. On the one hand this was a fairly massive inconvenience to traffic, but on the other hand the road was very quiet for a change, - no motorcyles doing the helmsley-Stokesley run!
