A walk for any time of the year, using well marked and singposted footpaths, bridleways, and roads.
There are no navigational difficulties.
Although the route crosses moorland, full use is made of a shooters' track.
In wet weather there is some mud under foot, but generally walking conditions are good and walk is suitable for just about anybody.

Start from the parking area off the Osmotherley - Hawnby road known as Square Corner (SE480 959).
Walk Esatwards along the road for a short distance, until you come to a bridleway sign on your right.
Follow the bridleway past Dale Head House (derelict) all the way to theroad at Locker Low Wood.
Continue along the road to the track that leads to Scotland Farm. (CARE : Traffic!!).
Head up the track, which becomes a shooters' track past a gateway by a small plantation. Follow the shooters' track all the way to Head House.
Now take the shooters' track South Westwards to Hill End Farm and Low Cote Farm.
At Low Cote Farm you may either continue Southwards along the road to Locker Low Wood, then retrace your steps to Square Corner via Dale Head House.
Alternatively, simply follow the road back to Square Corner, using the footpath across fields past Low Cote Farm (as marked on the map) to avoid a few hundred yards of road walking.
