9.4 miles.

Explorer Map OL26, - North York Moors (West)

A walk for everybody, that can be undertaken at any time of the year.
There are no navigational difficulties, and the walk makes use for about 60% of its length of the old ironstone railway track bed. From this old railway line, there are superb views down into Rosedale.
The only note of caution is that the descent back into Rosedale Abbey is down the notorious Rosedale Bank. This is a VERY steep section of road, with hairpin bends, with no footpath on it. This means that walkers must pay particular attention to traffic as they descend.

Start from the car park by the Milburn Hotel (SE72450 95972).
Walk towards the Church and School, and continue along the footpath to a campsite. Follow the footpath across the camp site to a footbridge and then field. After crossing the field, you come to Daleside Road, - a minor road. Turn right, and walk along Daleside Road (Care, - traffic) until you come to the hamlet of Thorgill.
Here, continue along the lane / track all the way to High House Farm, Moorlands Farm, and finally Overend Farm.
At Overend Farm, follow the track up to Blakey Ridge.
Where the track meets the old railway track bed, turn left and follow the old railway line ro Bank Top.
From here, descend back into Rosedale Abbey.
