Explorer Map OL30, - Yorkshire Dales (North)

The majority of this walk is very straightforward, taking in the delights of Wensleydale scenery and, - in particular, Mill Gill waterfall.
The route was chosen to minimise any problems that might result from recent wet weather, and in consequence uses well marked footpaths that are mostly free from being affected by wet conditions.
However, the paths leading to Mill Gill waterfall may proce to be fairly tricky in wet conditions. There are certainly some muddy sections, and other parts of the paths can be quite slippery. Walking to Mill Gill waterfall from Askrigg requires firm footwear.
We found that the journey to view Whitfield Gill Force, above Mill Gill waterfall, was somewhat wasted. Whitfield Gill Force is hidden in fairly dense woodland, and doesn't lend itself to casual sight-seeing.
