Expolorer Maps OL26, - North York Moors (Western Area)
A full description of the route is not given for this walk,
as much of the walk was improvised as we went along.
Where the walk used a footpath across Osmotherley Moor it was a very good
example of the need for the care and attention that is essential for such
walking. To begin with, the going was quite difficult as there is no "path"
as such to follow and the ground crossed is very rough (heather and tussock
grass). In these conditions it is absolutely essential to use a compass,
and to stick to the bearing that the map shows as being required.

Start from Ingelby Arncliffe Church. (NZ452 002).
Walk up the lane towards Arncliffe Wood. Where the lane meets the Forestry
track, turn left. Foolow the footpath through Arncliffe Wood up to Scarth
        Wood Moor.
Where the footpath meets the Cleveland Way footpath, turn right and continue
along the Cleveland Way until the boundary wall is reached. (SE461 999).
From here, take the footpath across the moor, heading in a South Easterly
direction, to the road. Continue along the road East to the bridge over
        the Crabdale Beck.
Cross the beck, and almost immediately take the footpath that follows
the South bank of the beck.
From here, a route was followed that eventually took us to the road North
        of Chequers at SE474 973.
From Chequers, the footpath was followed first to Oak Dale and the resrvoir,
before rejoining the Cleveland Way to return to Osmotherley.
From Osmotherley, the Cleveland Way was followed to Arncliffe Wood, and
then the Forestry track back to Ingelby Arncliffe Church.
