Explorer Map OL26, - North York Moors Western Area
A walk that was designed to allow for the severe weather
conditions of the day. There were several inches of snow covering all
paths and tracks, and visibility was poor on the Moor by the Black Hambledon.
Because of this we stuck with well defined tracks, and used part of
the Osmotherley-Hawnby road as well. Even though the tracks were well
defined, they were still covered in snow and could be fairly difficult
          in parts.

The walk started from Osmotherley village centre, SE456973.
The Cleveland Way footpath was followed through Oak Dale, past the reservoirs,
to the point where it meets the Osmotherley-Hawnby road. (SE479959)
At this point, we walked North along the Osmotherley-Hawnby road, past
Chequers, to where High Lane (SE474973) continues North to Sheepwash.
At Sheepwash, we turned left along the road to the Cod Beck Reservoir,
and followed the path on the West bank to the dam.
From here. we returned to Osmotherley past Cote Garth (SE465982), the
Green Lane, and the Cleveland Way.
