The walk uses the Cleveland Way between Saltburn and Skinningrove,
following the cliff top path.
From Skinningrove, the Cleveland Street is followed to North Skelton,
and the route then rejoins the Cleveland Way to return to Saltburn.
There are no particular problems with the route, though there are a
couple of reasonably steep ascents.
The main attraction of the walk is the fantastic view from the cliff
top path. The walk is best done, therefore, in good visibility.

Start from Saltburn. THere is plenty of available parking
in this seaside town; we chose to start from the cliff top by the old
Zetland Hotel (now apartments), - NZ6656221665.
Head East along the signposted Cleveland Way in the direction of Skinningrove.
The cliff top path is about 3.5 miles long. The path is well signposted,
and comes down to Skinningrove jetty (NZ7113820384). From the jetty,
follow the path to cross the Kilton Beck at the footbridge (NZ7138520014).
Now head up Skinningrove's main street that runs South alongside the
Kilton Beck. Almost opposite the Mining Museum, the footpath West to
the Cleveland Street is clearly signposted.
Where the footpath crosses the main A174 road (controlled pedestrian
crossing), NZ7082719220, continue West past the Allotments on the Back
Street Path / Cleveland Street.
Follow the Cleveland Street almost due West until you reach North Skelton.
Continue along the main road in a Westerly direction, until you come
to a bend in the road at NZ675185. Here the Cleveland Street continues
as a track on your left, heading in a South Westerly direction.
Follow this track to the next section of road, then turn right for a
short distance until you come to Trout Hall Lane on your left (NZ66718328).
Follow Trout Hall Lane in a Westerly direction to Skelton Green. Turn
right at the main road, and walk a short distance to rejoin the Cleveland
Way at NZ6568518302. Continue along the Cleveland way to return to Saltburn.
