Explorer Map OL30, - Yorkshire Dales (Northern & Central
          Areas)
A circular walk round Calver Hill in Swaledale.
There is some moorland walking, and the usual care should be taken for
such areas. However, the paths used are all well defined and should
          present no difficulty.
The main problem we found to be the very wet conditions underfoot, which
resulted in plenty of mud and slippery conditions. On the second half
of the walk, returning to Langthwaite from Reeth, certain sections were
so slippery that great care had to be taken.
In dry weather there should be little trouble on this section, and the
views on the walk are stupendous.

Start from the car park in Langthwaite (NZ6199098417).
Note : a fee for parking is payable.
Set out SE along road to Reeth, and after a short distance take the
footpath on your right heading uphill in a Westerly direction. Go past
Gill House and Bouldershaw House to meet the minor road just past the
          latter farm. (NY9951501858)
Follow the minor road for about half a mile in a Southerly direction
to the point overlooking Fore Gill Gate watersplash. (NY993009). Here
take the moorland path heading in a South Easterly direction towards
Reeth. Continue for about 2 miles, when the path becomes a well defined
          gravel track.
Continue along this track heading East until it turns through a wall
by a gate at SE022996). Here a footpath is shown on the Ordnance Survey
map, but this has been replaced by a gravel track leading to a house
          (holiday letting property?).
Pick up the footpath again where there is a gap in the wall to the East
of this property, and follow the well defined path across pastures and
          through walls towards Reeth.
At Reeth (SE0384499332), take the road out of the village towards Richmond,
and shortly after where the road bridge crosses the Arkle Beck take
          the signposted footpath towards Langthwaite.
Use the Ordnance Survey map to follow this path by observing field patterns
until it meets the Bridleway at NZ038003. Follow the Bridleway at the
upper level (as opposed to taking the lower footpath later on) to pass
above Castle Farm to reach Heggs House.
Here take the signposted footpath to Storthwaite Hall and onwards to
          Langthwaite.
