The Cavendish Memorial just outside Bolton Abbey village. Erected 
  in memory of Frederick Charles Cavendish, 7th Duke of Devonshire, who was murdered 
  in Phoenix Park, Dublin, on 6 May 1882. This murder took part 12 hours after 
  he had taken up the post of Chief Secretary for Ireland.
