9.4 miles.
Outddor Leisure Map No 31 & Explorer Map No 304

A circular walk taking in the River Tees between Barnard Csatle and Whorlton.
Most sections appeared to be well drained, so the walk should be possible all year round.
The walk will be extremely attractive in the Spring and Summer time, but even in March the walk gave immense pleasure, - especially with the River Tees churning through the narrow limestone gorge south of Abbey Bridge.

Cross the River Tees using Whorlton Road Bridge.
Return to Barnard Castle along the well marked footpath on the North Bank of the River Tees.
