 A sharpish climb to the summit of Roseberry Topping (1057 ft), followed by a walk along woodland paths and across farmland. Some of the paths were very muddy indeed at the time of walking. Otherwise a pleasant ramble, not far from the centre of Teesside.

Park in the car park just outside the village of Newton-under-Roseberry (NZ5704012847).
Ascend Roseberry Topping by following the footpath up Roseberry Lane, just outside the car park.
Descend in the direction of the Shooting Box, and continue West along the footpath into Roseberry Wood.
Follow the footpath SW and West, to eventually cross the Middlesbrough-Whitby railway line at the bridge. Continue to the main road, where you turn right and head North for about 200 yards (CARE, - traffic).
Take the track and footpath West to the A172, and cross this main road into Old Nunthorpe village.
Head North through the village, and then take the footpath North East to Morton Carr.
At Morton Carr, turn South and follow the footpath to Esatfield Farm. Continue South for a short distance, then return East to Newton-under-Roseberry via the marked footpath.
