10 miles.
Outdoor Leisure Map No 31 - North Pennines Teesdale & Weardale
This circular walk takes in the
North and South banks of the River Tees between Eggleston and Cotherstone.
The route can be shortened, if required, by returning as soon a you
          reach Cotherstone Bridge.
Most of the walk is through farmland, or along the river banks. In winter-time,
this walk will almost certainly be very wet underfoot; slippery by the
river banks, and muddy through farmland.

The start of the walk is from Eggleston village
        centre (NY9995423848).
Leave the village heading South East to the road junction where the B6281
meets the B6282. Almost on this junction is a farm road to East Barnley
Farm. Follow this road to the farm, and then take the footpath to High
        Shipley Farm.
From High Shipley, take the footpath South to Cotherstone.
At NZ0137120702 make the short detour to visit the Percy Mere Rock for
        views of Teesdale.
Continue down to the bridge over the River Tees at Cotherstone, and cross
both this bridge and the smaller one over the Balder Beck to reach the
point where the Teesdale Way footpath continues (NZ0133420085).
Take this footpath along the South Bank of the Tees to Cooper House (NZ0230819142)
From Cooper House Farm, take the Mire Lane to Cotherstone village.
Return to the River Tees at Cotherstone Bridge, but this time walk along
the Teesdale way footpath along the South Bank to Romaldkirk.
From Romaldkirk, take the footpath to Eggleston.
