Outdoor Leisure Map No 26 - North Yorkshire Moors Western Area
A walk taking in footpaths across
farmland, Forsetry Commission footpaths, and a part of the Hambleton
Road drovers' road. Mostly well-defined, though it was surprising how
easy it was to go off-course in the Forestry Commission land.
In winter-time, the Forestry Commission paths proved to be EXTREMELY
          wet and muddy.
Otherwise there are no significant difficulties.

The start of the walk was from Boltby village,
        near to the Church (SE49058660).
Head out of the village in an Easterly direction along the minor road.
Just past the bend in the road, take the signposted footpath to Low Paradise
        Farm.
From here, take the Cleveland Way to the Hambleton Street drovers' road
and continue to the point where the Cleveland Way leaves the Forestry
Commission plantation on the left. (SE495902).
Here turn West to follow Forestry Commision paths to Gallow Hill and Windygill
        Ridge.
From here head South along Forestry paths to SE477868, where the footpath
then drops steeply to follow the main footpath back to Boltby. |
